Challenges

The challenges are a key part of BIYSC. We entrust the achievement of these challenges to our participants, so that they can complete successfully the program. Each challenge represents a step that BIYSC candidates are expected to surpass throughout the process of application and participation in the summer program. We believe that the achievement of the following challenges will provide the students with advantageous skills, which they can make use of in their future academic and professional scientific journey.

1st Challenge

BE AUTHENTIC

PERSONAL STATEMENT AND MOTIVATION LETTER

Students must write a personal statement and a motivation letter that will enable them to stand out. We expect that our participants know how to recognize their merits and competences for their future academic and professional success.

2nd Challenge

BE ASSERTIVE

RECOMMENDATIONS FROM TEACHERS AND MENTORS

Students must be confidentially recommended by their science teachers and mentors, willing to know what others think of them, what impact they create in others for whom they are and for their actions.

3rd Challenge

BE CREATIVE

GETTING FINANCIAL SUPPORT

While working in the previous challenges, applicants are encouraged to commit on their dreams by making loads of efforts to seek financial assistance and, therefore, to support their participation at BIYSC.

4th Challenge

BE PASSIONATE

PARTICIPATION AT BIYSC 2018

The selected participants become part of BIYSC! During the two-week residential program, participants will live a world-class experience by working hands-on in a project of their choice and attending scientific lectures and debates. While taking part in this experience, we want to encourage our students’ passion for pursuing scientific research and careers in science.

5th Challenge

BE AMBITIOUS

SCIENTIFIC PRESENTATION AND PROJECT

As a fundamental part of science, students are encouraged to communicate and disseminate the knowledge acquired during BIYSC by preparing an oral presentation (the last day of the program) and working on their own research project (after the program). We want them to be ambitious in their future careers, and above all, we want them to be prepared for everything they may have to overcome in their future academic and professional path.
