Neurodegenerative disorders are common diseases that affect our society. They are characterized by the loss of neurons within the brain and/or spinal cord, which results in a progressive deterioration of the function of the central and peripheral nervous system. Nowadays, no cure exists for these diseases. Neurodegeneration can affect individuals of all ages, but becomes increasingly frequent with age. With the ageing of the general population, the prevalence of these disorders is expected to rise dramatically in the next few decades. Some researchers at the CRG aim to decipher the mechanisms underlying these diseases with the hope of finding a cure someday. Help us to better understand neurodegeneration!

We do not know where they come from, but what we do know is that when they reach the atmosphere they produce a large amount of particles, some of which can be detected. Some of these are the so called muons. But, what are muons? How can we detect them? What can we learn from cosmic rays? In this project, you will become an experimental physicist by building your own muon detector.

Synthetic, Perceptive, Emotive and Cognitive Systems Lab (SPECS)

Do you want to understand the neuronal substrate of animals by building robots and programming them using neuronal principles? Do you want to understand how learning happens in the brain? By understanding the simplest animals in terms of its neuronal organization, in this course we will use mobile 3D printed robots to learn how to build complex behaviors that are not just reactive responses to a stimulus but that include learning and memory as well.
