  • Manel Esteller Badosa

    Manel Esteller Badosa

    • M.D., Ph.D from the Universitat de Barcelona and researcher at Johns Hopkins, where his work was decisive in establishing promoter hypermethylation of tumor suppressor genes.
    • Leader of the CNIO Cancer Epigenetics Laboratory and the Director of the Cancer Epigenetics and Biology Program in Barcelona.
    • Director of the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute, Chairman of Genetics at the University of Barcelona and ICREA Research Professor.
    • His research focuses in the establishment of the cancer epigenome. He is a highly cited researcher and has received prestigious recognitions.
  • Lluís Alsedà Soler

    Lluís Alsedà Soler

    • Earned PhD in Mathematics in 1984, Professor at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona since 2004 with previous permanent academic roles.
    • Led 5 UAB Discrete Dynamical Systems Group research grants from Spanish Ministry of Science, and managed various projects.
    • Supervised 8 PhD and numerous master’s theses; authored 1 book, co-edited 4 books, and published 93 papers.
    • Held Vice-Dean and Director positions at UAB, organized international conferences, evaluated research projects, and co-founded the DANCE network.
    • Member of Barcelona Graduate School of Mathematics Governing Board since 2013, jury for Ferran Sunyer i Balaguer prize, and Associate Editor for DCDS-A and JDEA.
  • Ethel Eljarrat Esebag

    Ethel Eljarrat Esebag

    • PhD in Chemical Sciences from the University of Barcelona (1999) and current director of IDAEA-CSIC.
    • Expert advisor on the “plastic pollution” topic in the Congress of Deputies (Madrid), providing guidance to policymakers.
    • Her research focuses on the impact of persistent and emerging organic pollutants, specifically plasticizers, flame retardants, organophosphates, insecticides, and pesticides.
    • She investigates bioaccumulation and biomagnification in aquatic and terrestrial organisms, as well as human exposure through food and inhalation.
    • Authored more than 167 articles in SCI journals (h-index = 50), edited two books, and contributed to 30 book chapters.
  • Xavier Luri Carrascoso

    Xavier Luri Carrascoso

    • Director of the ICCUB since June 2018 and full professor at the Quantum Physics and Astrophiscs department of UB, where he is co-leading the main Spanish group participating in the Gaia mission.
    • He combines the teaching duties for undergraduate and graduate students with the research activity, and has directed 7 PhD theses.
    • Coordinator of the SPACIOUS project funded with 1.9 million Euros by the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme to address strategic research issues in astrophysics.
    • His research activity is focused on ESAs Gaia mission, where he was one of the proposers of the mission and has been a member of the executive committee of the data reduction consortium of Gaia (DPAC) since its creation in 2006.
    • Member of the Astronomy and Fundamental Physics Panel of the European Space Sciences Committee (ESSC) since 2022.
