    Josep Maria Cruzado

    • Chief of the Department of Nephrology and Renal Transplantation at Hospital Universitari de Bellvitge and Associate Professor of Medicine at University of Barcelona.
    • President of the Catalan Society of Nephrology and Associate Editor in the American Journal of Transplantation and Clinical Kidney Journal.
    • Awarded the Fundación Renal Ínigo Álvarez de Toledo Prize for Clinical Investigation in 2013 and 2017.
    • Research interests focus on renal transplantation, kidney regeneration and diabetic kidney disease.
  • Marta Pujol

    Marta Pujol

    • PhD in Biotechnology by Universitat de Girona developing molecular markers for a biological control agent of fire blight disease.
    • Postdoctoral researcher at Plant Genetics Department of Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA) developing markers for breeding Solanaceae and Cucurbitaceae species.
    • Researcher at the Plant and Animal Genomics Program at CRAG since 2008, deciphering the genetics of important agricultural traits in melon. Mainly related to ripening, fruit quality and disease resistance.
    • Teacher collaborator at different undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, and participation in scientific outreach activities.
  • Irma Roig

    Irma Roig

    • PhD in Plant Biotechnology by Universitat de Barcelona studying how plants detect and respond to competing neighboring vegetation.
    • Former Postdoctoral researcher at Università degli Studi of Milano working in the molecular control of seed development.
    • IRTA Postdoctoral researcher at CRAG improving horticultural crops using plant biotechnology tools.
    • Involved in outreach, science dissemination and education activities addressed to primary, high and college students.
  • Jery Joy

    Jery Joy

    • Dual Degree BS-MS with a major in Biology and minor in Chemistry by Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) – Thiruvananthapuram, India.
    • 4th year PhD student in Biomedicine by Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) – Barcelona, Spain
    • Current research work at Marco Milan’s group focusing on the role of protein quality control mechanisms in Drosophila melanogaster cancer model.
    • Participation in various science and outreach activities at IRB Barcelona such as ENABLE, BIYSC and Crazy about Biomedicine.

    • PhD in Genetics by the IRB Barcelona.
    • Short Postdoc stage at the University of California San Francisco and currently postdoctoral researcher at the IRB Barcelona).
    • Research involved in working with Drosophila melanogaster (the fruit fly) as a model system to understand growth regulation and tissue homeostasis during normal development and in a cancer context. 
    • Participation in various science and outreach activities with young students at IRB Barcelona and in secondary schools and involved in workshops for the general public.
  • Mariana Muzzopappa

    Mariana Muzzopappa

    • Degree in Biology from University of Buenos Aires (UBA) – Argentina
    • PhD in Chemical Sciences at Institute of Biochemical Research, University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Study of SCF- E3 protein complexes involved in regulated protein degradation during oogenesis in Drosophila melanogaster.
    • Postdoctoral Researcher at Center for Genomic Regulation (CRG) – Barcelona, in Lopez-Schier’s laboratory. Use of the zebrafish as a genetic model to understand inner-ear related diseases.
    • Research Associate at Marco Milán’s group. Use of Drosophila melanogaster to analyze different aspects of Chromosomal Instability- induced tumorigenesis.
    • Participation in many science activities, international courses and conferences. Research presentation in international congresses and publication of my work in peer-reviewed international journals.
    • Tutor for the final research work of many high school students and participation in the last editions of BIYSC.
