Luis Dieulefait is a Full Professor at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Barcelona (UB), a position he has held since 2020. He earned his degree in Mathematics from UNR in Rosario, Argentina, in 1995, and completed his PhD in Mathematics at UB in 2001. Following his doctoral studies, he held postdoctoral positions at the Institut de Mathématiques de Jussieu, Université Paris 13, and the Centre de Recerca Matemàtica (CRM) between 2001 and 2003. He was awarded a Ramón y Cajal fellowship at UB from 2004 to 2007, after which he served as an Associate Professor until 2020.

His research achievements include proving the modularity of Rigid Calabi-Yau threefolds, addressing cases of the Fontaine-Mazur and Serre’s modularity conjectures, and advancing Langlands functoriality through results on base change for GL(2), symmetric powers, and tensor products. Additionally, he has solved several Diophantine equations using the modular method.
