Luis Contreras Benito joined UPC NanoSat Lab in 2021 while pursuing the Master in Aeronautical Engineering from UPC-ESEIAAT, continued with his master thesis, and is currently enrolled as a PhD student in Aerospace Science and Technology, working in CubeSat systems engineering and ionospheric scintillation. He has participated in several CubeSat missions: 3Cat-4, a 1-Unit CubeSat participating in ESA’s Fly Your Satellite! 2 Programme; 3Cat-6/RITA, an Earth Observation payload winner of the Second IEEE-Student Grand Challenge; and 3Cat-8, a 6-unit CubeSat dedicated to technology demonstration and ionospheric remote sensing. He has been working in structural design and analysis, as well as assembly, integration and verification of the satellites, and he is the current team leader and systems engineer of the 3Cat-4 and 3Cat-8 missions. He also actively participates in the ARANEM radio club.
