Alfonso Mendaña has a Bachellor degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (Basque Country University). During his undergraduate studies, he worked with marine bacteria, trying to understand their role in warmer oceans due to Global Warming. He is currently preparing his Masters’s thesis at Iñaki Ruiz-Trillo’s lab as a student at the Genetics and Genomics Master (University of Barcelona). He is trying to obtain insight in the genomic regulation of several unicellular relatives of animals during their life cycle. He is very interested in bringing science to young students, having participated in teaching activities and science talks in high schools.
