University of Vic | Central University of Catalonia

The University of Vic - Central University of Catalonia emerged from a regional and citizens’ initiative to continue with a university tradition that goes back to the Middle Ages. UVic-UCC is a public university under private management. It provides a public service in the areas of teaching, research and knowledge transfer in its fields of expertise. Its mission is to develop knowledge and innovation to serve the region, and it has a distinctive international vocation. It focuses on students and their all-round training, and instils the values of individual creativity, professional rigour and social commitment. The UVic-UCC is closely associated with the local environment and the cultural, social and economic progress of Catalonia.

Paola Galbany

Paola Galbany is a Nurse, dr. in Nursing Science and has a Bachelor’s degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Barcelona (UB). As a practicing nurse, she has worked in several hospitals in the Barcelona metropolitan area and in France, and has performed management work. Since 2008, she has been a member of different interdisciplinary, interuniversity and international research groups as the FEBE group, the AFIN group and the GIR-GEDIS group.

She was a postdoctoral fellow at the Bloomberg Lawrence S. Faculty of Nursing, University of Toronto, Canada. During the fellowship, she worked with Dr. Sioban Nelson in the subject of nursing migration and now they are working in different issues focused on nursing practice. From 2017 she is the dean of the Faculty in Health Sciences and Welfare in the University of Vic-Central University of Catalonia and is member of the Research Group M3O (Methodology, Methods, Models and Health and Social Outcomes). Her research focuses on the development of care and nursing theory, as well as the methodological foundations of nursing.
